Chapter Chairperson’s Comments – January 2012

Welcome to all ASIS Chapter 79 members and Happy New Year!

Now that the holiday festivities are behind us, we have an opportunity to re-evaluate and further define our 2012 goals with a refreshed perspective. Your ASIS Board members have been working diligently and are excited to share the Chapter plans for the upcoming year. We will focus on areas in which the Chapter has previously excelled, such as presenting educational programs, pursuing ASIS awards and scholarships, and maintaining a fiscally responsible position. However, we also have many new programs in development for this year including such items as developing a speakers bureau, conducting a membership drive, promoting the chapter via traditional and social media outlets, and implementing a student mentorship program. We will be presenting these programs and our strategic plan at the January 19th Chapter meeting. If you would like to review the proposed plan prior to the meeting, please click on the Guide link below.

Please review the information in this 2012 Chapter Planning Guide. Your questions and comments are very important in the promotion and progression of Chapter 79's Goals.

In addition to the 2012 program discussion, we are privileged to have Bruce Nilson lead us in a discussion regarding ethical decisions in the security profession.  The title of his presentation is Ethical Decisions in My Job: Triumph or Nightmare?  This promises to be a very interesting exercise in critical thinking!

This Chapter meeting on January 19, 2012 will be held in the Traditions room at the Hershey Country Club.  Breakfast is available for purchase for $15 starting at 7:45a.  The business meeting will begin at 8:10, followed by Mr. Nilson’s presentation.  Registration for the meeting is strongly encouraged via this link http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22EA9YM8MWY/, but not required.

I’m very intimidated by the pace, dedication, and chapter advancements our past Chairperson, John Maffey, was able to achieve. He has set us up for success and it’s our turn to repay him by continuing the journey. I am very humbled that the Chapter membership has given me the opportunity to coordinate our Chapter resources toward reaching our new goals.  It is with your support and enthusiasm that we’ll have a successful 2012!

At your service,

Tracey Bray
